Serve it with a spicy sriracha mayo for an unforgettable barbecue meal.

Chicken with Fanta, Carrot, and Orange

Instructions

Prepare the chicken:
Season the inside of the chicken with salt and pepper. Pour half a can of Fanta into the cup of a chicken holder. Preheat the barbecue to 210°C (410°F). Rub the chicken with olive oil and place it on the chicken holder. Cook for approximately 1.5 hours with the barbecue lid closed.

Prepare the carrots:
Blanch the carrots in salted water for 10 minutes, then drain. Brush the carrots with olive oil and grill them on the barbecue for 5 minutes until they develop a light char.

Grill the orange slices:
Slice the orange into thick rounds and grill them briefly on the barbecue to caramelize the edges.

Finish the vegetables:
Sprinkle the grilled carrots with cumin, parsley, and thyme. Squeeze the juice from the grilled orange slices over the carrots for a fresh, zesty touch.

Carve and serve:
Cut the chicken into pieces and serve alongside the seasoned carrots.

Make the sauce:
Mix the mayonnaise with sriracha or your preferred spicy sauce. Sprinkle with a pinch of smoked paprika powder for extra flavor.

A Handy Tip for Perfectly Barbecued Chicken

For the ultimate barbecue chicken, a chicken holder is your best friend. Barbecook® offers a stainless steel chicken holder, inspired by the classic “beer can chicken” method. Simply fill the holder’s cup with your choice of beer, soda, or wine, along with aromatic herbs.

To use, prepare your barbecue for indirect grilling and preheat to 210°C (410°F). Rub the chicken with your favorite dry spice mix and place it on the holder. Add wet wood chips to the barbecue for extra smoky aromas. Grill the chicken with the lid closed for 60–80 minutes, checking occasionally with a thermometer to ensure the breast reaches 70°C (158°F) and the thigh 85°C (185°F). The result? Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. Let the chicken rest for 10 minutes before serving.

This recipe is a fun way to bring bold, fresh flavors to your barbecue menu. Whether it’s a family dinner or a summer gathering, this Fanta-inspired chicken is sure to be the star of the show. Enjoy!
